Regular maintenance care for your pets is essential to keep them healthy and happy. From nail trims to sanitary shaves, these routine tasks help prevent health issues and detect any concerns early. By prioritizing maintenance care, you're investing in your pet's well-being and strengthening your bond with them.

  • Your pet’s should be trimmed as often as it takes to prevent their nails from touching the ground when they're standing, or getting caught on carpet and furniture. If nails are too long they can inhibit traction and make it even harder for senior pets with arthritis or other orthopedic impairments.

  • Soft paws and other types of nail caps use non-toxic vinyl nail caps that are glued on to your cat's existing nails. These caps help prevent damage to furniture and your cats nails.

  • PawFriction is a dog paw pad coating system that increases traction to help stop slipping. It improves stability and enhances your dog’s quality of life. Your dog will be able to stand up and walk on smooth and slick surfaces with less difficulty.

  • Keeping your dog's ear hair short will also help keep moisture out of your dog's ear canal. Moisture left in the ear canal can cause yeast infections over time. Bacteria buildup on hair left inside your dog's ears can cause gunk and debris to build up in the ear, causing temporary hearing loss and ear pain

  • Ear cleaning is an important part of your dog’s grooming needs. The structure of the dog’s ear canal makes it difficult for material trapped deep within the horizontal canal to be expelled without the assistance of cleanings. This material can lead to itchiness and ear infections if not removed. Some dogs need more frequent ear cleaning than others. Dogs who are prone to ear infections often benefit from more frequent ear cleanings.

  • A sanitary trim (or sanitary clip) refers to trimming or shaving the coat so it's shorter in the areas that often become dirty when toileting. The most common areas are around the bottom, genitals and abdomen. This helps keeps your dog or cat clean without having to clip the entire coat, and avoids urine or feces clinging to the coat, avoiding unpleasant odors, staining, and reducing the risk of infection. Clipping the abdomen also helps avoid longer hair from touching carpet, bedding or furniture, avoiding smells and stains around the house

  • Matts are tangles of fur that, if left unaddressed, can lead to skin irritation, restricted movement, and even more severe health issues. Matting is especially prevalent in long-hair dogs during seasonal shedding, and in medium to long hair cats that are overweight or elderly. Severe matting can be extremely painful and even mild matting can cause your pet a great deal of pain.

  • When anal glands are not emptied properly during a bowel movement, pus like secretions can build up, impacting the glands and potentially causing further issues if not treated in a timely manner. Special conditions and outside factors can increase your dog’s odds of having impacted anal glands. These factors can include food and environmental allergies / sensitivities, abnormal thyroid hormone levels, bacteria build up, yeast and chronic skin infections, among other things. If you have any questions regarding your pet specifically, be sure to talk to your veterinarian.
